Weyerhaeuser products, software and solutions can help builders earn points in residential green building programs. While there are many local and regional programs to choose from, in the U.S. the two programs used nationally are the National Green Building Standard™ and LEED® for Homes. Working with Weyerhaeuser can help builders meet certain criteria in both programs.
The National Green Building Standard™ is the first green building program to be approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). It can be applied to all residential construction work including single-family homes, apartments and condos, land development and remodeling and renovation. The standard defines what green practices can be incorporated into residential development and construction and provides home buyers with extra measure of assurance that their home was responsibly built.
GREEN APPROVED PRODUCTS FOR THE NATIONAL GREEN BUILDING STANDARD
Weyerhaeuser structural frame products were the first to receive a “Green Approved” product seal of approval from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center. This mark is intended to provide third-party evidence that Weyerhaeuser building products, software and NextPhase Site Solutions meet specific scoring criteria in the National Green Building Standard. Weyerhaeuser products carry a certificate from the Research Center that identifies the specific sections of the standard under which the products can earn points.
What does this mean for builders?
We've made it easy for builders to build green with Weyerhaeuser Products, software and NextPhase Site Solutions. Instead of needing documentation for each of the categories our products qualify for, it is all listed in our certificates and been approved by the NAHB Research Center. This information is also posted in the scoring tool on NAHB Green Building Programs website or on the Green Approved products website. Additionally, we have a complete list of Green Approved Products.
LEED FOR HOMES

ICC-ES SAVE
The Sustainable Attributes Verification and Evaluation Program™ (SAVE™) is the first of its kind to both verify the sustainability of building materials and provide guidance on how products may qualify for green building points within the five major green building standards using Verification of Attributes Reports (VARs™). Weyerhaeuser is the first company to receive a VAR™ environmental report for its entire product line, including engineered wood products, solid sawn lumber, software and NextPhase Solutions.
This recently released report VAR-1008 is available on the ICC-ES website.
