From our sustainable forestry practices to our innovative manufacturing technologies, we're making the most of a renewable resource. Weyerhaeuser products have many attributes that make them an environmentally preferable choice for structural frame construction.
That means we absorb more CO2 from the atmosphere than we produce. During photosynthesis, trees absorb carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, from the air and give off oxygen. Weyerhaeuser wood products continue to store carbon during their useful life, limiting the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. In 2008 the products we manufactured stored the equivalent of 7.7 million metric tons of CO2.
On average, we use 99% of each log to produce Weyerhaeuser and Weyerhaeuser wood products, additional wood products, and energy. And our engineered wood products are made using advance technologies that allow us to take wood fiber from trees less suitable for structural lumber and efficiently turn them into strong, predictable building materials.
Urea formaldehyde resins are not added to any of our products. Concerns about off-gassing from urea formaldehyde have led to limits on emissions, most notably by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Weyerhaeuser engineered wood products are exempt from requirements of CARB. Consult our materials and safety data sheets (MSDS).
