The TJ Shear Brace is a tested performer against seismic activity and high winds. It is easy to install and trim on the jobsite. Its trimmability makes the TJ Shear Brace an ideal solution for rake walls and makes everyday jobsite modifications easy to handle. All braces can be trimmed down to 74.5”.

The TJ Shear Brace is the first pre-fabricated shear panel to receive ICC-ES 2009 IBC/IRC code compliance verification (ESR-2652). Architects and engineers can have increased confidence that their designs meet the latest building code requirements. Newly updated, the ICC-ES Evaluation Report addresses the use of TJ Shear Braces in both prescriptive and engineered solutions for tall walls up to 20 feet high and two-story structures.

Code Requirements

The TJ® Shear Brace takes the guesswork out of meeting IBC/IRC code requirements and satisfies the engineer of record’s specifications for resisting lateral forces. It”s also easy to install so your framing crew”s work will go faster and smoother, ensuring accurate installation time after time.

Most TJ Shear Braces are acceptable in prescriptive markets as a 1-for-1 substitution for the prescribed, site-built methods allowed by the IRC. They also provide a wood nailing surface that”s easy for framers and trades to work with.
